What’s better then donating money to a worthy cause and knowing that you're helping to make a child’s wish come true? Doing it while eating!
The Redford Jaycees are hosting "Restaurants for Wishes" Thursday, July 23 through Thursday, July 30. The event will feature four local restaurants going head-to-head in a friendly competition to which one who can raise the most money for Make-A-Wish Michigan. The restaurants will donate a percentage of their food sales and will sell paper Make-A-Wish stars for a $1 donation. The competitors are Murphy’s Restaurant, operating from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Sandy’s by the Beech, Michno’s Café and Redford Grill & Bar all operating from 3 to 9 p.m.. The "playoffs" begin July 23 and run through July 29; the "finals" (top two selling restaurants from the playoffs) are scheduled for July 30, times to be determined.
The Jaycees will also host an online auction beginning at 10 a.m. on July 23 and run continuously until midnight on July 30. With awesome items like dinner with Redford firefighters, a ride along with local police officers or a Detroit Tigers basket, oh my! If nothing particular catches your eye, they also have a direct donation option. One hundred percent of the proceeds from the auction will go directly to Make-A-Wish Michigan and the winners will be contacted by the Redford Jaycees. Auction books will be at each restaurant location with item information, and you will be able to access the online site through your smartphone or laptop.
